Originally from Houston, Texas, Jonathan Burwell attended Marymount Manhattan College in New York City. He has performed original plays at Playfest with the Texas Educational Theatre Association in Austin, Texas, The Festival of New Works: Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, TUTS at The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, and acted with the Houston Tidelanders at the Wortham Theater Center in Houston, Texas. Other theatre productions include Cinderella , A Midsummer Night’s Dream , Hair, The Shadow Box, Funemployment , and over 40 roles in productions at The Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center, including company debuts of Thomas Adès’ The Exterminating Angel, John Adam’s Nixon in China , and over 20 HD Broadcasts streamed live in over 60 countries. Other productions with the company include, Don Carlo, Un ballo in maschera, Douglas Carter Beane's new adaptation of Die Fledermaus, Cyrano de Bergerac, and the upcoming new production of Tosca directed by Sir David McVicar. He has worked with Opera Oggi New York, Arkansas State Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, and taught Theatre Arts at The Church Without Walls Summer Enrichment Camp in Houston, Texas. Commercial work includes national commercials for Bayer Aspirin, Gant, Pepsi, and the NFL. Television includes Ugly Betty, Life on Mars, A Crime to Remember, Black Actress, and the upcoming series Homicide City on Discovery ID. He is happy to be part of Lady L’Amour’s Final Bow at Duane Park and work with such talented artist from the New York Burlesque Community.
